Roxanne Perez outlasted 19 other women in a high-stakes battle royal to become the new number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship held by Lyra Valkyria. The unique match started with 20 competitors and saw the final four square off to determine who would challenge Valkyria at the upcoming Vengeance Day premium live event.

Battle Royal Full of Surprises

The battle royal featured several surprise entrants and returns to kick things off. Former NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura made her return after several months away, bringing her acclaimed style back to NXT. Nikkita Lyons also made her comeback after recovering from a serious knee injury that had kept her out of action since last spring.

Several other surprise entrants included:

  • Dani Luna
  • Valentina Feroz
  • Yulisa Leon
  • Thea Hail

Fan favorites like Indi Hartwell and Sol Ruca received loud ovations from the NXT Universe. The imposing presence of Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin of Toxic Attraction also posed a major threat.

The field featured a mix of veterans and upstarts, all fighting for a golden opportunity against Valkyria. Perez and Jayne kicked off the eliminations by tossing Feroz and Leon early on. The cunning Jayne tried eliminating herself to secure a spot in the final four, but officials caught on and nullified her tactic.

Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez teamed up at one point, using their power to eliminate Wendy Choo, Hail, and Luna in quick succession. But they turned on each other shortly after when Ripley shockingly dumped out the imposing Rodriguez.

After over 15 minutes of wild action, four women remained: Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Rhea Ripley, and Meiko Satomura. They would compete in a Fatal Four Way match to secure the title match at Vengeance Day.

Perez Outlasts Blackheart in Epic Final Four Showdown

The closing stretch saw Perez and her longtime rival Cora Jade square off once again while Ripley and legend Satomura revived their hard-hitting rivalry. Perez landed a Pop Rocks superkick on Jade, following it up with the Pop Rox to score the pinfall.

On the other side of the ring, Ripley countered Satomura’s patented Death Valley Driver into Riptide to eliminate the Japanese icon. Roxanne and Rhea had an intense showdown, trading stiff strikes and high impact moves.

In the end, Perez countered Riptide into Pop Rox to get the huge win and title match. She let out an emotional celebration as she realized her dream was potentially one step away.

Valkyria Ready for Perez

The eccentric Lyra Valkyria said she looks forward to defending her title against Perez, congratulating her on the performance but dismissing her as a true threat. Since winning the title in shocking fashion from Mandy Rose last month, Valkyria has become increasingly unstable and detached from reality.

Many expect the veteran Perez to give Valkyria a dose of reality when they clash at Vengenace Day on February 4th. With an impressive reign as NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion under her belt already, Roxanne could be adding more gold around her waist soon.

LWO Advances in Classic Tournament

In other notable action, Legado del Fantasma’s Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde defeated Edris Enofe and Malik Blade to advance in the prestigious Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. Del Toro & Wilde make up the Latin World Order (LWO) faction along with NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams.

Hayes interfered to help LWO score the tainted win, angering many fans. LWO joins Diamond Mine and New Day’s Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods in the semi-finals.

What’s Next for NXT

With Vengeance Day rapidly approaching, NXT looks ahead to several key matches and developments:

  • Roxanne Perez challenges Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women’s Championship
  • Bron Breakker defends his NXT Title against Grayson Waller
  • Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals
  • Fallout from several surprise returns and the next steps for talents like Nikkita Lyons
  • Possible continued issues between LWO and challengers like Dijak, Dante Chen & others
  • Cora Jade regrouping after emotional loss

NXT once again delivered shocking moments and breakout performances as the road to Vengeance Day intensifies. The developmental brand continues to produce can’t miss action every Tuesday night.
